There is an uproar over the sex tape case in Karnataka. Through this tape, Water Resources Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi is being accused of sexual harassment, after which Ramesh Jarkiholi has now resigned from his post. His resignation has been accepted by Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and sent to the Governor.
Ramesh Jarkiholi is accused of sexually harassing the woman on the pretext of getting a job and then turned back on his promise. A complaint has also been lodged against him in this matter. Dinesh Kallahalli, a social activist had released a tape related to this matter in the media.
Ramesh Jarkiholi wrote in his resignation, “Allegation against me is far from truth. As fair investigation should take place, I’m resigning on moral grounds.”
Ramesh Jarkiholi’s brother demands a CBI inquiry
On the other hand, BJP MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi on Wednesday demanded a CBI inquiry into sexual harassment allegations against his brother Ramesh Jarkiholi and also threatened to file a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against the issuer of ‘fake CDs’.
After meeting Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Balachandra said that if Ramesh Jarkiholi did nothing wrong, he should not resign and an inquiry should be conducted to find out who are behind the issuing of the CD containing the objectionable videos.
Balachandra said, “The identity of the woman with whom injustice is being claimed is not known.” Someone complained claiming that the woman’s relatives asked her to do so. It is wrong to lodge this complaint, because the aggrieved person should complain, not any person walking on the road should do so. ”
After meeting Yeddyurappa, he told reporters that he had requested the Chief Minister to order a probe by the CBI or CID to find out who issued this CD and which influential leaders were behind him.
Karnataka government has to face embarrassment
BS Yeddyurappa-led BJP government has had to face a lot of embarrassment due to such allegations before the state budget session starting on Thursday. Ramesh, who was earlier in the Congress, was one of the MLAs who played an important role in toppling the Congress-JD (S) coalition government, after which the BJP came to power in the state.
