CBI has registered an FIR in a bribery case against Hyderabad-based company Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd, which purchased electoral bonds worth Rs 966 crore.
According to PTI report, 8 officials associated with the Steel Ministry have also been made accused in this case. According to officials, a bribe of about Rs 78 lakh was given in exchange for approving the bills of Megha Engineering worth Rs 174 crore for the work related to the Integrated Steel Plant in Jagdalpur.
In this FIR registered against corruption, apart from 8 officials of NISP and NMDC, 2 officials of MECON have also been accused for allegedly taking bribe.

These officers are accused of allegedly taking bribe of Rs 73.85 lakh. Apart from these, two officials of MECON Limited have been made accused.

These two officials are accused of taking Rs 5.01 lakh from MEIL and Megha Engineering GM Subhash Chandra Sangras and others in lieu of 73 challans for payment of Rs 174.41 crore by NMDC to MEIL. GM and Megha are accused of giving bribe in the engineering case.
The investigation started in August 2023
According to the report of news agency PTI, on August 10, 2023, the CBI had started a preliminary investigation into alleged bribery in a Rs 315 crore project related to the works of intake well, pump house and cross-country pipeline at the steel plant, Jagdalpur. Based on the findings during the investigation, a bribery case was recommended to be registered on March 18, which was filed on March 31.
