The CBI pleaded before the court that Pradeep had broken up with Priyadarshini. After breaking up with Priyadarshini, he sent her a text message in which he slandered the girl’s character. The CBI claimed in the court with evidence that Priyadarshini broke down due to Pradeep’s text message and ended her life. The CBI got hold of the text message which was recovered by a team of forensic scientists from Chennai. Priyadarshini was a resident of Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh.
The CBI had registered the case in April 2015 on the orders of the Madras High Court. The court had directed the CBI to take over a complaint lodged at Tirubuvanai police station in Puducherry. The CBI had filed its charge sheet in November 2017. Priyadarshini’s father had said in the complaint that his daughter was studying in a medical college. She was a fourth year student and was staying in the hostel.
He told that his daughter Priyadarshini was in a relationship with Pradeep. The father claimed that Pradeep later started ignoring him and this led to differences between them. Later, due to a text message sent by Pradeep, his daughter committed suicide in May 2012. Priyadarshini’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the hostel room.
