Activist Akhil Gogoi has written a letter on 23 March alleging that he was mentally and physically tortured during the custody. Gogoi claimed that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) offered him bail on the condition that if he joins BJP or RSS, he will be granted bail. Please tell that Gogoi was arrested during the anti-CAA.
The letter was released by Gogoi’s new political organization, the Raijor Dal. According to this letter, Akhil Gogoi was taken to Delhi on 18 December 2019 without judicial approval.
‘Just gave me a blanket in 3-4 degree cold’
According to PTI, Gogoi told that- ‘I was locked in lockup number 1 in the NIA headquarters and I was given only 1 blanket. I slept on the ground in 3-4 degree temperature.
According to Gogoi, the leader of Krishak Mukti Sangram, NIA officials offered to give bail immediately if they join RSS.
Akhil Gogoi said, “When I questioned his insulting offer, he gave him another offer to join BJP. He said that I can become a minister by contesting from an empty seat.”
’20 crore rupees offer’
Farmer leader Gogoi also alleged that he was given an offer of Rs 20 crore and a condition was laid that he would have to resign from the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS). He was asked to that start an NGO which will work against Christian conversion in Assam.
According to Gogoi, after this, when he turned down all the proposals, the NIA offered him to meet the Chief Minister and the effective minister. Gogoi also rejected them.
In the letter, Gogoi has written that- ‘I was threatened that if I do not accept the proposals, then I will have to bear the consequences. I was threatened that I could be sentenced to 10 years.
