Lama Nachman, Director of the Intelligent Systems Research Lab at Intel Labs, has 26 years of experience in contextual computing, Human/AI systems, multimodal interactions, sensor networks, computer architecture, systems embedded and wireless technologies. Nachman is one of the leading figures in artificial intelligence: his research is dedicated to amplifying human potential through responsible collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence, leading a multidisciplinary team of researchers exploring new user experiences, detection, algorithms and applications.
A notable aspect of his career is his collaboration with Professor Stephen Hawking: starting in 2012, Nachman led a team of researchers in developing a new software platform and sensing system to help Hawking communicate. He later extended this technology to the open source community, allowing people with disabilities around the world to communicate with limited input and live more independently. In the interview granted to Adnkronos Tech&Games, Nachman talks, among other things, about his work and the importance of interdisciplinary studies in the evolution of AI.
