Sibal quoted economist Ruchi Sharma’s recent interview to The Indian Express to make his point. He said that it has been said that the fight of 2024 will be Modi vs Modi. The reason is that whatever Modi has done during his two terms, people will evaluate it. People are well aware of the reality of BJP’s rule. The poor are becoming poorer. Inflation is getting worse. Even the middle class is finding it difficult to survive.
‘…if BJP wins, there will be no elections after 2024’
Sibal further alleged that the reality of BJP’s tall claims is also in front of everyone. He claimed that BJP’s own members are upset, but they do not speak. The opposition thinks that if we do not defeat Modi in 2024, there are chances that there will be no elections after that. They (BJP) can amend the constitution. In such a situation, the PM candidate of INDIA does not matter.
Sibal reiterated that the main agenda of the election will be issues like Rs 15 lakh promise, inflation, status of education, progress of Digital India initiative, gap between rich and poor, growing anarchy, communal tension and what is being done for women. .
Kapil Sibal’s statement comes before the third national meeting of INDIA alliance to be held on Thursday-Friday. 26 non-BJP parties will gather in Mumbai to chalk out their strategy to defeat the Modi government in the Lok Sabha elections. The meeting is expected to unveil the new common logo of the opposition group along with talks on seat sharing among other agendas. Part of this block, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has also indicated its possible expansion in the upcoming meeting.
Sarcasm on the reduction in the price of LPG
Before this, Rajya Sabha member Sibal took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for cutting the price of LPG by the Centre. He said is this not ‘Rewari culture’? The government on Tuesday announced a cut in domestic LPG prices by Rs 200 per cylinder.
In a post on ‘X’, Sibal said, ‘Prime Minister: Rs 400 relief for Ujjwala is not ‘Rewdi Culture’? I think it is for poor families. Glad you remembered them. I am sure you will think more about him as 2024 approaches. He said, ‘When opposition parties give relief to the people, it becomes ‘rewadi culture’! Be victorious!’
