New Delhi: India’s retail inflation eased to 4.87 percent in October. Press release issued by the central government in this regard: The National Bureau of Statistics of the Ministry of Statistics and Planning has released the All India Consumer Price Index and Rural, Urban and Integrated Consumer Food Price Index for October of the current year based on 2012=100. All-India and sub-group and group-wise consumer price indices for all states, union territories are also published.
Price details are collected through personal visits by field workers of Field Operations Unit of NSO, MOSBI on weekly lists from selected 1114 urban markets and 1181 villages covering all States / Union Territories. In the current month of October, NSO has received prices from 99.8% rural and 98.6% urban markets. The reported market wise rates are 89.0% for rural and 92.0% for urban.
All-India Inflation Rates (on point-to-point basis i.e. comparison of same month of last year i.e. October 2022 and October 2023) based on General Indices and Consumer Food Price Indices are also given. General Consumer Price Index details for rural, urban and union states for September-end and provisional October Details are given:
- Rural CPI was 5.55 (weighted), 189.3 (September end), 190.6 (October provisional) in Tamil Nadu.
- Urban CPI was 9.20 (weighted) 188.3 (September end) and 188.3 (October provisional) in Tamil Nadu.
- In Tamil Nadu, the composite price index was 7.25 (weighted) 188.7 (September end) and 189.8 (October provisional).
- Rural CPI was 0.08 (weighted), 194.7 (September end), 193.6 (October provisional) in Puducherry.
- Urban CPI was 0.27 (weighted), 186.9 (September end), and 187.8 (October provisional) in Puducherry.
- In Puducherry, the composite CPI was 0.17 (weighted), 188.9 (September end), and 189.3 (October provisional).
