The agreement is considered one of the longest-lasting on Brazilian TV. For more than 40 years, SBT and Televisa have been partners and must maintain the tradition in relation to soap operas. The decision guarantees the exclusive transmission of Televisa serials on open television in Brazil and validates the beginning of a collaboration for the international distribution of the plots produced by SBT.
“We will continue to leverage our content for many years to come as we take the relationship with SBT to the next level,” commented Guillermo Borensztein, senior vice president of international content licensing and co-production, on the extension of the partnership, which lasted “months negotiation”, according to the statement.
Recently, SBT had success airing Televisa soap operas, such as “Amores Verdadeiros” and “Abismo de Paixão”, as well as well-known reruns such as “A Usurpadora”.
