The judicial custody of actor Rhea Chakraborty, his brother Shawvik and all others arrested in a drug case related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been extended till October 20 by the Special NDPS Court. Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on 8 September.
Sushant Singh Rajput died on 14 June. Three agencies of the country – NCB, CBI and ED are investigating the matter from different angles.
Sushant’s father accused Rhea Chakraborty of abetting the son to suicide and giving him Drugs. An FIR was registered on behalf of Sushant’s father in Patna, Bihar. After seeking CBI investigation of the case, the Supreme Court handed over this case to the central agency.
The NCB has been investigating this since the drugs angle surfaced in this case. Rhea’s brother Shawvik Chakraborty and Sushant’s staff manager Samuel Miranda were arrested by the NCB on 4 September.
Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the NCB on 8 September after lengthy questioning. Rhea is accused of supplying drugs to Sushant.
On 22 September, the special NDPS court extended Rhea’s judicial custody till 6 October. Riya had filed a bail petition, but it was rejected after NCB protests.
After the name surfaced in the Bollywood Drugs Syndicate case, Bollywood’s top actor Deepika Padukone has also been questioned. The NCB also sent summons to Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh, after which all the actors appeared before the NCB.
