This year’s tournament is organized with the purpose of promoting the practice of bowling in localities and thereby evaluating training and coaching to build a force of bowling athletes of the units. From there, excellent athletes are discovered to train and supplement the national team.
This year’s tournament attracted the participation of 91 athletes (60 men, 31 women) from 8 units including Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Can Tho, Vung Tau, Ninh Binh, Binh Duong. Athletes compete in all 20 events, including 13 men’s events and 7 women’s events. In the Master competition, 24 male athletes and 18 female athletes with the highest scores (regardless of hook or spin) will be selected to compete on the last day of the 8.10 tournament.
Ms. Bui Kim Ha, General Secretary of the Vietnam Bowling Federation, said: “This is the first time the federation has organized a tournament and I am very happy to see so many participating units, especially bowlers.” “Previous national tournaments had very few female athletes, but especially in this tournament, there were 31 female athletes participating.”
In the women’s singles event taking place today, athlete Nguyen Thuy Uyen (Can Tho) excellently won the gold medal with a total score after 6 games of 1,178. Thuy Uyen maintained her impressive form by continuously being in the top 3 rankings after 5 games and accelerated in the last game to bring home the first gold medal for Can Tho. Silver medal in this content belongs to athlete Le Thi Bach Linh (Quang Nam) with a total score of 1,164 and Trinh Tuyet Mai (Can Tho) ranked 3rd with 1,140 points.
NThe hook ball men’s singles event had the participation of 5 delegations from Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Dong Nai and Binh Duong. Bowling championship national clubs 2023 continues until October 8.
