Had a “very warm” phone conversation with Trump; Many issues were discussed: Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Sunday that he spoke “very warmly” by phone with US President-elect Donald Trump, saying they discussed the war in Gaza and Israel’s stance on Syria.
Netanyahu said in a video message that on Saturday (local time) they had a “very friendly, very warm conversation on very important issues” and told Israel the need to “complete its victory.”
The leaders also spoke about the need to repatriate remaining hostages in Gaza. Hamas launched a major terrorist attack on Israel on October 7 in which more than 1200 people were killed and more than 250 people were taken hostage. About 100 of them are still believed to be hostages in Gaza.
Israel launched a strong retaliatory strike targeting Hamas units in Gaza, killing more than 45,000 Palestinians. “I discussed all this again last night with my friend, incoming US President Donald Trump,” Netanyahu said in a statement. Discussed.”
“It was a very friendly, very warm and very important conversation,” he said, as quoted by CNN. We talked about the need to complete Israel’s victory, and we also talked at length about the efforts we are making to free our hostages.”
Netanyahu said Israel is “working tirelessly to bring our hostages back home, whether they are alive or dead and I also want to say that the less we talk about it, the better, and so With God’s help we will succeed.” On Sunday, the Israeli Prime Minister took to social media platform X to emphatically say that he will “transform” the Middle East.
