UIDAI extends free online document upload facility till 14th December 2024: There is good news for lakhs of Aadhaar holders. The government has once again extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar for free. Today i.e. 14 September 2024 was the last date for this, but now the government has extended it from 14 September to 14 December 2024. That is, now Aadhaar holders will be able to upload their identity and address related documents without any charge till 14 December. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) gave this information through its social media post on Saturday.
In a post on social media platform X The UIDAI has stated that The authority has extended the facility of uploading supporting documents related to identity and address online for free till 14 December 2024. The government has taken this step to reach millions of Aadhaar number holders. The facility of uploading supporting documents for Aadhaar card for free is available on My Aadhaar portal (myAadhaar). UIDAI People are being encouraged to keep their Aadhaar details updated.

Why is it necessary to update Aadhaar details?
At present, people are being asked for Aadhaar number for everything from school admission to getting pension. However, at some places, it is an optional photo ID card. However, it is important to keep the supporting documents given at the time of generation of this important photo ID and its record updated.
Updated supporting documents for identity and address for Aadhaar enable you to live a life with ease and more accurate verification. Therefore, it is in the interest of the Aadhaar number holder to submit the latest identity and address documents.
These documents will be needed
Ration card, Voter ID card, Government issued identity card and address proof like Residence Certificate, Passport are valid as proof of both identity and address.
PAN card, driving licence, secondary or senior school mark sheet or school leaving certificate with photograph, government issued identity card or certificate – are valid only as proof of identity.
Electricity/Water/Gas Bill (last 3 months), Bank-Post Office Passbook, Rent/Lease/Leave & License Agreement are valid as address proof only.
How to update Aadhaar
Aadhaar details can be updated online for free. Here we are giving you step by step information about what you need to do for this.

UIDAI official website myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in Go to.

Enter Aadhaar number and captcha

Click on ‘send OTP’ and enter the OTP received on your linked number.

After this, select the first option visible on the screen, Document Update.

On the next page, select the correct options and click on ‘Proceed’.

You can make necessary changes on the next page.

Upload the required documents.

Check the details entered.

Submit the change request.

If you have requested for change of address, you can check the status of the request through Update Request Number (URN).
The documents can be submitted online on the myAadhaar portal or by visiting any Aadhaar centre. However, a fee of Rs 50 will also have to be paid for submitting supporting documents with the help of Aadhaar centre.
