The youth player of the Atlas red and black team, Edyairth Ortega, has put an ellipsis on his career as a professional footballer. And he was notified that he has received a four-year punishment from WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) for having consumed prohibited substances.
Ortega had even been separated from the red and black team since last January and it was not until this Tuesday, already in September, that he was notified of the final sentence of four years of punishment.
The now former footballer would have consumed a substance to increase muscle massand improve physical performance and last January he underwent tests, which came back positive, so he will now be eligible to return to activity until 2027, when he is 30 years old.
His last game as a footballer was on October 1, 2022, in the duel against Necaxa that the red and black team won 1-0 and where Edyairth played all 90 minutes. From then on, he stopped being active.
His most memorable moment was when he scored the winning goal in the Clásico Tapatío of the 2018 Clausura Tournament, the same meeting where the legend Rafael Márquez said goodbye to professional soccer. This goal fell just in the first minute of the game.
