A new alliance of six parties has formed before the assembly elections in Bihar. This alliance has been named Grand Democratic Secular Front.
The Grand Democratic Secular Front includes Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Samajwadi Party Democratic, Bahujan Samaj Party, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party and Democratic Party Socialist.
Upendra Kushwaha president of Rashtriya Lok Samata Party has been declared the chief ministerial candidate of this alliance.
All these parties held a press conference on Thursday i.e 9 October 2020 and announced their new alliance and chief ministerial candidate. The leader of this front will be Devendra Yadav and all parties will fight the elections together.
On the occasion of the announcement of the new alliance, Asaduddin Owaisi criticized both JDU-BJP and RJD-Congress alliances and said that the poor did not benefit within the rule of each.
Asaduddin Owaisi stated, “Even after 15 years of JDU-BJP and 15 years of RJD-Congress rule, the poor people of Bihar have not been benefited. The state still lags behind in the social, economic and education sectors. We have created this alliance for the future of Bihar and we will try our best to succeed.”
On this occasion, Upendra Kushwaha said, “We have requested the people of Bihar that you gave thirty years to both of them. Give this alliance only five years to the people of Bihar.
“In five years, we will tell how the youth get employment in this state, how there is a good education in government institutions and people do not have to go to Delhi for the treatment.” We will show this by doing this.”
Elections are to be held in three phases on 243 assembly seats of Bihar. Voting will be held on 28 October, 3 and 7 November and counting of votes on 10 November.
