Apple has announced the launch of a new iMac model, equipped with the M4 chip, a more powerful processor than previous models. New specifications deliver improved performance, up to 1.7 times faster for everyday tasks and up to 2.1 times faster for complex tasks, such as photo editing and gaming, compared to the iMac equipped with M1 chip. The M4 chip’s Neural Engine also supports advanced artificial intelligence capabilities through Apple Intelligence, Apple’s integrated AI platform.
The new iMac is available in an expanded color palette, with options including green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver. You can choose the option of nano-textured glass for the 24” 4.5K Retina display, designed to reduce reflections. As for connectivity, the device includes up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, and matching accessories with a USB-C port. The device is also equipped with a 12MP camera with Center Stage technology, which follows the user during video calls to keep them in the center of the frame, a useful function for family and work video calls. A six-speaker audio system and microphones with beamforming technology complete the multimedia equipment.
The M4 chip delivers enhanced performance for creative professionals and gamers. Performance in image and video editing is increased by up to 2.1 times compared to the previous model, while the gaming experience is significantly smoother even with recent titles. Apple Intelligence brings a series of new functions to devices, including the generation of personalized images and emojis, maintaining high standards of privacy protection thanks to local management of information. macOS Sequoia, the operating system of the new iMac, integrates new features that improve the user experience. Safari now includes Featured mode and advanced window reading and organization features. Improvements also in the environmental sector: the new iMac is built with recycled materials and uses plastic-free packaging.
The new iMac is available in two basic configurations. The model with 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU, equipped with 16GB of unified memory expandable to 24GB and 256GB SSD (with the possibility of configuration up to 1TB), is on sale starting from €1,529, and at €1,469 for the Education sector.
