If there has been a deputy who has stolen all the limelight from the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, during this second vote of his investiture session Junts politician Eduard Pujol i Bonell has been.
The Catalan deputy, who should have voted ‘no’, made a mistake and voted ‘yes’ to the surprise of his party colleagues and the rest of the deputies. Although he immediately rectified it, his vote was first counted as affirmative and, after debate among the members of the Congress Board, he ended up counting it as null.
When the count has finished and the president of the Chamber, Francina Armengol, has closed the session, the Catalan politician has once again starred in a most striking image.
The spokesperson for the Popular Party, Borja Sémper, has been the one who has suffered the consequences. The Basque politician was attending to the media in the corridors of Congress when Pujol i Bonell came out.
“It has become evident that there is someone who wants to be president of the Government thinking of all Spaniards and someone, who is from the socialist group and which is regrettable, who is willing to be president with people who do not believe in Spain and in the equality of the Spaniards. For this alone it has been worth it”, Sémper responded first.
However, during the second question Pujol i Bonell appeared in the background and all the journalists went with him, leaving Sémper with the word in his mouth.
