Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, attended a dinner at Mar-a-Lago with the President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump. The meeting, held on Wednesday, represents a significant moment for the future of American innovation, as underlined by Andy Stone, spokesperson for Meta: “It is a crucial moment for the future of American innovation. Mark was grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to discuss the new Administration with President Trump and members of his team,” Stone said in a statement reported by the US website The Verge.
While the details of the discussion between Zuckerberg and Trump have not been made public, the meeting could mark a change in relations between the two. In the past, Trump has expressed severe criticism of the Meta founder, going so far as to declare that Zuckerberg should be jailed for Facebook’s role in the 2020 presidential election and for personal contributions related to mail-in voting initiatives.
