The aspiration of Pham Ly Duc
Center-back Pham Ly Duc is the new face of the Vietnamese team in the concentration in March, when he was trusted by coach Kim Sang-Sik despite having just appeared in the V-League playground less than 6 months. He was only 22 years old, which was only 16 V-League matches this season, and the U.21 country championship 2024 with U.21 HAGL.
“With the young player’s mind, I am very happy and eager to have the name on this focus list of the Vietnamese team,” Ly Duc shared before the afternoon training session 15.3. “I was a bit worried at first, but then you guys assisted me in my living and practicing.”

In the Vietnamese team, Ly Duc is classified as Chau Ngoc Quang, his teammate in HAGL shirt. According to the center -back in 2003, the players in the national team were close and friendly. Ly Duc emphasized that wearing a team is an opportunity for him to learn in more experienced seniors.
“Each person has different strengths, I am a young player who lacks a lot of things, so I need to learn from other brothers in the team. I myself find that I still lack anything I often confide in my team, especially the brothers playing in the defense like Mr. Duy Manh, Thanh Chung, Tien Dung …”, Ly Duc emphasized.
Ly Duc can be beautiful (1.82 m high), with good strength and body thickness to serve the dispute. He belongs to the type of player, ready to “play” his hand with foreign soldiers, not afraid to collide. The aggression and energy helped Ly Duc become outstanding compared to the central defenders of the same age.
Although there are many limitations, such as the ability to read situations and judgment when meeting more mischievous opponents, experience or “cold” are lacking, but these are the qualities that need time and experience to sharpen. Importantly, Ly Duc has aspirations and fighting.

“The competition, everyone wants themselves to be on the team’s list. I am a young player, the first thing I need to do is try to practice and show the teachers in the coaching staff,” Ly Duc said.

“My idol model is center -back Sergio Ramos,” Ly Duc said. HAGL’s center -back learns how to kick fire, but still keep the sense of seniors.
According to the player born in 2003, the lesson plan in the Vietnamese team is different from HAGL, but he must learn to adapt.
“The team has a different lesson plan, however, the practice is mainly due to myself. I try my best to meet the exercises that the teachers are given. I hope you give me the opportunity to express myself.
“The brothers in the team only taught quite a lot about people, communication on the pitch. Every day with me on the team is a useful day for me.”
After Viet Anh center -back withdrew, the Vietnamese team was only Manh, Thanh Chung, Thanh Binh, Tien Dung and Ly Duc for the central defender position. Meeting two opponents under Cambodia (friendly, 19.3) and Laos (the Asian Cup qualifying round of 2027, 25.3), when the defense was not under much pressure, Ly Duc could be given the opportunity.
