Turkish athlete Yasemin Adar won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, defeating her rival from Kazakhstan Aiperi Medet Kyzy in freestyle wrestling.
A member of the Turkish women’s wrestling team competed in the category up to 76 kg.
In a duel with Ayperi Medet Kyzy, Yasemin Adar won in a minute and 24 seconds.
Yasemin went down in history as the first Turkish athlete to win an Olympic medal in wrestling.
The current Tokyo Olympics were supposed to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020. Due to the pandemic, the competitions were postponed for a year, they will last until August 8.
The organizers decided to hold the Games without foreign fans, and local spectators are not allowed to Olympic events in six Japanese prefectures, including Tokyo.
