On the evening of January 25 (December 26), Ms. Marcele – Xuan Son’s wife, posted a photo of herself posing next to peach blossoms, a typical symbol of Vietnam’s Lunar New Year. In a simple outfit, she beamed with a sunny smile. Below the photo, Xuan Son did not hesitate to leave a sweet comment: “Love you forever, my love” (roughly translated: Love you forever, my love).

Xuan Son’s wife – Marcele Seippel, was born in 1999 in Salvador, Brazil. The two have known each other since they were teenage girls and boys. Few people know that, before getting married, Xuan Son was also rejected by the blonde girl Marcele. But then Xuan Son’s sincerity and perseverance moved and moved her.
In 2018, when Marcele had just entered university, the couple decided to get married. Not long after, Xuan Son received an invitation to Japan to play for Vegalta Sendai Club. With the desire to always accompany her husband, Marcele temporarily put aside her studies to go abroad with him.

However, life in a foreign country is not easy. Xuan Son suffered a serious injury and was forced to take a break from competition for a long time. During that difficult period, Marcele was always by his side, taking care of him every little bit, from giving him mental encouragement to supporting his physical recovery. Thanks to his wife’s perseverance and love, Xuan Son was able to start practicing again after 6 months.
Not achieving the expected success in Japan, Xuan Son moved to Denmark to play for Næstved BK Club. However, the results were still not as expected when he only scored a few goals, and the team was relegated. By the end of 2019, he decided to come to Vietnam, opening a new journey in his career.

In Vietnam, Xuan Son played for many clubs, from Nam Dinh, Da Nang, Binh Dinh before returning to Nam Dinh in 2023. The 2023-2024 season is a golden milestone in his career. With 31 goals, he not only helped Nam Dinh Club win the V-League championship but also set a record for the player scoring the most goals in a season. Individual titles such as “Top scorer”, “Best player of the season”, and “Best goal” also named him.

More specifically, 2024 is the year Xuan Son officially receives Vietnamese citizenship and plays for the national team for the first time. During his brilliant journey at AFF Cup 2024, he was “Best Player” and “Top Scorer” even though he only played 5 matches. Right before the first leg of the AFF Cup 2024 final, Xuan Son knelt down and proposed to Marcele with a ring at the hotel – where the Vietnamese team stayed. He shared that this is an action that he has never done in the 6 years that the couple has been together.

Since following her husband to Vietnam, Marcele has devoted all her time to taking care of her family and her two sons, Matteo (3 years old) and Lucca (1 year old), helping Xuan Son feel secure in his contributions on the field. Their small family has now adapted well to life in Vietnam and views this place as their second home. Both Xuan Son and his wife shared that they love Vietnam, love Nam Dinh, and this year celebrating Tet in Nam Dinh has special meaning for their family.
