In the AFF Cup final second leg between Thailand and Vietnam on the evening of January 5, player Nguyen Xuan Son suffered a serious injury and was taken to the hospital by ambulance by the medical team on the field.
At the hospital, Nguyen Xuan Son received first aid, an X-ray was taken to confirm the diagnosis and was kept under observation at the hospital.
The next day (January 6), Thailand’s match organizers supported an ambulance to take Nguyen Xuan Son to Bangkok airport and board a flight with the entire team back to Vietnam. Immediately after returning to Vietnam, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) coordinated with Vinmec International General Hospital to arrange an ambulance to pick up and take Xuan Son to the hospital.
On the same day, surgery to treat Nguyen Xuan Son’s injury took place successfully at Vinmec International General Hospital.
