The official start of the Independence Day celebrations will be early in the morning, with PM Modi hoisting the national flag at 7.30 am. The event will be telecast live, so that citizens across the country and the world can witness this important occasion.

In view of the flag hoisting ceremony at the Red Fort in Delhi and the speech of PM Modi here, Delhi Police has made special arrangements. Delhi Traffic Police has made changes in many routes so that people do not face much trouble in commuting in the national capital. Giving information about the closure and diversion of some routes, Delhi Police has issued an advisory. Many major roads in Delhi will remain closed from 4 am to 10 am on August 15. Small vehicles will be allowed on some routes. Through the advisory issued, Delhi Police has appealed to the passengers to plan their departure from home keeping in mind the route diversion and closure and follow the advice to avoid any inconvenience.

Bus Routes
Buses coming from East, North, Central, West and South Delhi which usually travel via Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Tilak Marg, Subhash Marg, Ring Road between Akhara Chandgi Ram and Hazrat Nizamuddin Bridge are advised to avoid these roads and take the suggested route.
Parking facility for guests
Invitees with parking labels 1, SS, 4, 4A and 5 should avoid using the route from SPM Marg, Chhatta Rail leading to their designated parking spot.
Invitees with parking label 2A and 3 should not use the route of Nishad Raj Marg, Subhash T Point and Upper Subhash Marg to go towards their parking areas from Delhi Gate side.

Metro entry for invitees
The nearest metro stations are Lal Quila, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk. Depending on their direction of arrival, invitees are advised to get off at the following stations:
ISBT Kashmere Gate from North & East Delhi
South Delhi to A-Point RC Aggarwal Chowk
Rani Jhansi Road or Ajmeri Gate from West and South West Delhi
Adequate signage will be installed at all important traffic junctions to guide vehicles heading towards the Red Fort, ensuring smooth movement for all participants.
