President-elect Trump said he felt it was a good thing to do even though no one paid attention to praising it.
Previously, after becoming president-elect in November 2016, Mr. Trump affirmed that he would not receive a salary of $400,000/year but would only symbolically receive $1/year to comply with the law.
According to law, the US President currently has a salary of 400,000 USD/year, paid monthly, along with an allowance of 50,000 USD/year.
During his first term as president, Mr. Trump donated his salary to various government agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Park Service, according to the news site. Tampa Free Press.
