West Ham announced this Wednesday that Julen Lopetegui has been dismissed as coach of the hammers. The London team had two consecutive defeats by landslides against Liverpool (0-5) and Guardiola’s Manchester City (4-1), in addition to being at the bottom of the table in the League, in 14th position. “The first half of the 2024-2025 season has not aligned with the entity’s ambitions, therefore, the club has taken measures in line with its objectives. The process of appointing a replacement is underway,” says the statement issued by the English team.
This was Lopetegui’s second stage in the Premier after coaching Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2022-2023 season, which he left shortly before the start of the season in 2023. The coach arrived at West Ham in May 2024, replacing David Moyes and signed for two years. But after seven months in office, the Basque coach has been dismissed after achieving just six wins in 20 Premier League games. In addition to the last two wins, the London team has also lost 4-1 against Tottenham, 3-0 against Nottingham Forest and 2-5 against Arteta’s Arsenal this season. “The Board of Directors would like to thank Julen and his staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future,” the club statement added.
West Ham United can confirm that Head Coach Julen Lopetegui has left the Club today.
