Rarely has peaceful Canada, reluctant to get involved in military interventions or even to take an interest in the rest of the world, been so preoccupied with a conflict. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has nothing but Ukraine in his mouth: “I just spoke with President Volodymyr Zelensky. I told him that Canada will send Ukraine another shipment of highly specialized military equipment. We also discussed sanctions against Russia and humanitarian aid for Ukraine,” he said, traveling all last week in Europe. The head of government invited his Ukrainian counterpart to speak in front of the Canadian Parliament on Tuesday, burning politeness in the American Congress, which will hear him on Wednesday.
