Volunteer teachers and students beautify school buildings by painting in Şanlıurfa


In the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa, a group of teachers and students are beautifying the school buildings in the countryside they are cleaning by painting.

A group of teachers and students, who came together within the scope of the “Education and Life” social responsibility project, started work for the school buildings in the countryside, whose exterior is in poor condition.

In this context, the teachers who applied to the Siverek District Directorate of National Education identified the buildings, including kindergartens, that needed paint.

Volunteers, who painted 10 schools in a year and transformed them into something completely different, finally took the brushes and painted the Kaynakbaşı Primary School, which is 17 kilometers away from the district.

In addition to painting the building, teachers and students also cleaned the classroom and prepared playgrounds in the school garden.

Teacher Doğan Ahmer told Anadolu Agency (AA) that within the scope of the project, they determine and paint a school every month.

Stating that their aim is to ensure that teachers and students receive education and training in a good environment, Ahmer said, “We received a request from our students to paint this village school. They said, ‘Hodja, let’s find a village school, fix it and paint it so that our brothers have a nice educational environment.’ “We also came and work with our students. We are painting our school now. Our aim is for our children in the villages to work in a more livable and educational environment.” said.

“I didn’t expect them to come and paint so quickly”

Kaynakbaşı Primary School teacher Feyza Gürci stated that their school gained a brand new face thanks to the volunteers.

Stating that the thinner exterior of the school building is in a very bad condition, Gürci said, “We also conveyed the situation to our teacher friends who are interested in such projects. Thanks to our teachers, they took a close interest and gave support. I did not expect it to develop so quickly, but they came very quickly and together with their students, they came to our school. They repaired and painted the exterior. Thank you very much for everything.” he said.

Helin Arjen Şengül, one of the volunteer students who stated that she had one of the happiest days of her life, also stated that she had a dream of taking part in such a social project and that she realized this dream with her friends and teachers.

The students of the school Sinem Yıldız and Mahmut Dik also thanked the volunteers who beautified the school by painting it.
