Vinesh Phogat disqualified in Paris Olympics: A heartbreaking news has come from the Paris Olympics. Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who made it to the final in a spectacular manner, has been disqualified and taken out of the competition due to being overweight. Phogat, the first Indian female wrestler to reach the Olympic final, was to compete against American wrestler Sarah Hildebrandt for the gold medal on Wednesday evening, in which she was considered a strong contender for victory. Vinesh’s wonderful journey at the Olympics has a sad end
Vinesh Phogat’s journey to the final was amazing, which included a spectacular victory over the world’s number one ranked Japanese wrestler Yui Susaki. The special thing is that Susaki had not lost a single match in the 95 international matches fought before this defeat. After this victory, Vinesh Phogat was considered the biggest contender for the gold medal. Apart from Japan, her victory against top ranked female wrestlers of Ukraine and Cuba further strengthened her claim for the gold medal. But on Wednesday morning, before the final match of the 50 kg category of women’s wrestling, she was disqualified for being a few grams overweight.
