How did the 1971 war begin?

Angered by this, the Indian Army agreed to support the Bengali nationalist groups in the Bangladeshi War of Independence in East Pakistan.

Relations between East and West Pakistan deteriorated.
Due to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s opposition, the situation became so bad that the help of the army had to be taken. Then Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Awami League, who was a big leader of East Pakistan, was arrested and with this the relations between East and West Pakistan deteriorated.
The period of migration started.
As the dispute escalated, people of East Pakistan started migrating from West Pakistan. Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India at that time. At that time, when refugees from East Pakistan came to India to seek refuge, Indira Gandhi’s government helped them a lot. Let us tell you that 10 lakh people had taken shelter in India at that time. Due to the oppressive policies of West Pakistan, India helped East Pakistan and the Indian Army started preparing for war.
Pakistan planned to attack India.
Despite international pressure at that time, the Pakistan government planned to attack India. When Pak Army fighter planes intruded into Indian airspace in the last weeks of November, India warned Pakistan but Pakistani President Yahiya threatened war within 10 days. On 3 December 1971, Pakistani planes started bombing some cities of India. With this, the war between India and Pakistan started and then the Indian Air Force destroyed many important bases of Pakistan.
Operation Trident.
On December 4, 1971, India launched Operation Trident. In this operation, the Indian Navy fought the Pakistani Navy from the sea side in the Bay of Bengal and also fought the West Pakistan Army on the other side. The Indian Navy bombed Karachi port and completely destroyed it on December 5, 1971, and India started celebrating December 16 as ‘Victory Day’ to commemorate its historic victory.
