After the 2023 national volleyball championship, female players have begun to gather (from November 26) to aim for the world women’s club championship. The Vietnamese women’s volleyball team has changed its plans, moving its training location from Hanoi to Bac Ninh. The entire team will have about 2 weeks to prepare, assemble the squad… before moving to China, expected on December 11.
During this reunion, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet still gave opportunities to familiar faces such as: owner Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Tran Tu Linh, Pham Thi Nguyet Anh; assistants Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Ly Thi Luyen, Dinh Thi Tra Giang, Nguyen Thi Trinh; opposite Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh and Doan Thi Xuan; passing two Doan Thi Lam Oanh and Vo Thi Kim Thoa; libero Nguyen Khanh Dang, Le Thi Thanh Lien.
These are all faces who have been together in the colors of the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team in many tournaments since the beginning of 2023. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet shared: “My opinion as well as the coaching staff’s is the priority. First for the athletes who have made history. They are the ones who won the Asian Women’s Club Championship and brought the team to the world tournament. Therefore, this is also a worthy reward for their efforts. “.
However, compared to the force that won the Asian Women’s Club Championship, the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team (Sport Center 1) will not have the services of Tran Thi Thanh Thuy. This is an unfortunate absence, because this 1.93 m tall striker is currently the most classy striker in Vietnamese women’s volleyball. Thanh Thuy is the main character in the series of proud achievements that the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team has achieved in 2023, especially the achievement of appearing for the first time in the top 4 strongest teams at ASIAD 19. Thanh Thuy also has Very high performance when competing in the Japanese women’s national volleyball championship. She is often the top scorer for the PFU Blue Cats Club.
In the system of the International Volleyball Federation, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy has registered to play for PFU Blue Cats. Therefore, this female athlete born in 1997 cannot play for Sport Center 1 Club (Vietnam women’s volleyball team) at the same time to attend the 2023 World Women’s Club Championship. The absence of Thanh Thuy will greatly affect the team. The strength of the team led by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet. To compensate for Thanh Thuy’s absence, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team decided to add striker Nguyen Huynh Phuong Thuy. This is a young face (born in 2004) who made an impression when playing for the VN 2 women’s volleyball team at the VTV Cup in August. Although his height is not too outstanding (1.73 m), this 19-year-old striker have good resilience and physical strength.
