Diplomatic activity is seeking solutions to the post-electoral crisis in Venezuela following the July 28 elections in which the National Electoral Council (CNE), with a Chavista majority, declared Nicolás Maduro the winner without showing the minutes. The opposition, for its part, has made public the results that give victory to its candidate, Edmundo González.
In the midst of this crisis, the presidents of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, have proposed a solution in which Maduro calls new elections or forms a coalition government, an extreme that is rejected by both the executive and the opposition. The opposition has called for demonstrations this Saturday in Venezuela and in the countries where the 7.7 million Venezuelans who have had to emigrate in recent years live, marches that are expected to be massive.
