Although the homicide rate has been declining for years, some European prisons are increasingly overcrowded. From Turkey to the United Kingdom, passing through Belgium, France or Italy, Arte TV Semanal examines the growing overcrowding of various penitentiary centers, where, in many cases, the limits of human dignity are exceeded and suicide is already the main cause of death.
This program is produced by the ARTE channel and is distributed in nine languages thanks to the Emove Hub project which, in addition to Morning Express, includes Gazeta Wyborcza (Poland), Internazionale (Italy), Ir (Latvia), Kathimerini (Greece), Le Soir (Belgium) and Telex (Hungary).
The media participating in the project receive funding from the European Union in accordance with the European Media Hubs call, led by the General Directorate of Information Society and Media, which is part of the EU’s multimedia actions.
