The floods that are devastating the Valencian Community, with dramatic situations in numerous municipalities and with serious infrastructure problems, damaged or cut off due to the storm, have prompted Valencia to ask the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to postpone the match of the Copa del Rey, within the first round of the competition, which was to be played this Wednesday, at nine at night, against Parla.
The province of Valencia is on red alert and Civil Protection has asked, through a message to citizens’ mobile phones, that they avoid any road travel. The city is also cut off by train, which prevents the use of the AVE, the means of transport that Rubén Baraja’s team had planned to use to travel to Madrid on Wednesday at 10:30 am.
The club has issued a statement in which it requests the postponement of the Cup match. “The club considers that it is the most appropriate measure due to the serious consequences of DANA that we are seeing in the province of Valencia, the recommendations to avoid displacements and the cuts in communications with Madrid,” the statement explains.
