The Uzbek Ministry of Defense announced that the plane belonging to the Afghan armed forces, which crashed in the region of Surkhan-Daria, near the border with Afghanistan, was shot down by the Uzbek Army.
In a statement shared on Monday, the Uzbek defense ministry said the downed plane violated the country’s airspace.
An investigation has been opened into the incident, no death is to be deplored according to Uzbek security sources.
Local media reported earlier today that a plane belonging to the Afghan armed forces crashed last night in the Surkhan-Daria region of Uzbekistan on the border with Afghanistan. The two Afghan soldiers who were on board the plane were still injured according to the same source.
On Sunday night, 3 planes and 2 helicopters belonging to the Afghan armed forces, with 143 Afghan soldiers on board including two women fleeing the Taliban, landed last night at Bohtar airport in Tajikistan.
