US Department of Justice is going to sue Google. This will be the biggest case of alleged violation of antitrust laws against any tech company in two decades. Google has been accused of misusing its power as the world’s largest search engine. According to Bloomberg’s report, the Justice Department will accuse Google in its case that it has abolished competition to preserve its dominance over Internet search.
In this complaint of Justice Department, 11 states of America will also be together. According to public court records, these states include Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, South Carolina, and Texas.
Bloomberg report says that this case will be only the first phase of the attack on Google. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is also preparing a complaint about the company’s attitude in the digital advertising market. In this market, Google is in control of the technology that advertisers and publishers use to buy and sell display ads on the Internet.
According to a CNN report, the Justice Department officials are behind a year-long antitrust investigation behind this historic federal case. Apart from this, this case is being filed around the Congressional Report Finding, which has found that big tech companies take advantage of ‘monopoly power’.
It has been alleged in this report that Amazon treated third-party sellers unfairly and that Apple’s App Store fees and policies are anti-competitive. In this, Facebook has been accused of targeting shopping to eliminate anti-companies.
Apart from Google, other big tech companies can also face a similar levels of lawsuits. The Federal Trade Commission has been investigating Facebook for more than a year and this investigation may also end with a case.
