US denies Tehran’s claims of attempted hijacking of tanker

The US denied Tehran’s claims that the Iranian side thwarted an attempt by the US military to seize an Iranian oil tanker in the Arabian Sea.

A Pentagon spokesman told AA that US forces were “just watching” the ship in international waters.

“It happened last week. We saw IRGC forces illegally boarded an international-flagged tanker in international waters, but we did not intervene, ”said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

According to him, the Iranian side towed the ship to the territorial waters of Iran.

As Iranian state television previously reported, the US military hijacked a tanker carrying Iranian oil in the Arabian Sea, loaded the “black gold” onto another vessel, and then changed the course of the tanker.

In response, members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) disembarked in a tanker and returned the ship to the territorial waters of the Islamic Republic.

According to the report, the US Navy did not abandon attempts to recapture the tanker. Helicopters and military vessels were involved, but all attempts were in vain. The tanker is currently delivered to the territorial waters of Iran.
