Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar has started her new political innings. She has joined Shiv Sena in presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Urmila contested the Lok Sabha elections by joining the Congress last year but left the Congress party after the defeat of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Gopal Shetty in Mumbai North constituency.
From September 2019 to November 30, Urmila repeatedly denied that she had any plans to join Shiv Sena, however, it was discussed in media and political circles.
Earlier, CM’s aide Harshal Pradhan told IANS, “Things have been finalized quite late and she will officially join the Shiv Sena on Tuesday in the presence of Chief Minister Thackeray and the party president.”
Putting an end to the media’s questions, Shiv Sena MP and Chief Spokesperson Sanjay Raut also said on Monday that “He is already a Shiv Sainik, just wait for the formal announcement”. It is being told that Shiv Sena is preparing to send Urmila to the Legislative Council. The list of the names of the 12 members to be appointed to the council by the Governor’s quota was sent by the Mahavikas Aghadi government to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, including Urmila’s name.
