United Russia leads the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation


After processing 10% of the protocols in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, United Russia leads with 38.75% of the votes, it follows from the data in the information center of the CEC.

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation is gaining 24.95%, the Liberal Democratic Party – 9.58%, “New People” – 7.83%, “Fair Russia – For the Truth” – 6.76%.

The total turnout in the elections to the State Duma as of 18:00 Moscow time on Sunday was 45.15%. This was announced by the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russia Ella Pamfilova in the information center of the CEC, reports TASS.

On Friday, September 17, three-day elections to the State Duma kicked off in Russia.

Along with the elections to the State Duma, presidential elections are held in a number of federal subjects, including Chechnya, Dagestan, Mordovia and Tuva, parliamentary elections in 39 constituent entities, additional parliamentary elections in 19 constituent entities, elections to administrative centers of 11 constituent entities and governor elections in five cities.

The number of voters registered in Russia and in diplomatic missions abroad reaches 110 million.

In total, there are 450 seats in the State Duma, for which 14 parties are fighting. The main competitors are considered to be the ruling United Russia party of President Vladimir Putin, which currently has the majority of seats in the State Duma, as well as the Communist Party, Liberal Democratic Party and Fair Russia, represented in parliament.

Elections to the State Duma are held every five years, 225 deputies are elected from party lists with a 5 percent electoral threshold, and the other half – in single-mandate constituencies in one round.

The OSCE refused to send observers to the State Duma elections on September 17-19 due to Russia’s demand to limit their number.
