Uniform mandatory from December 13; Special schools will open at 8 p.m.

Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister V Sivankutty said that uniforms will be made compulsory in schools in the state from December 13. He said it was to eliminate confusion over matters including bus concessions. He added that schools and hostels for children with disabilities could be opened from 8 p.m. Such schools are required to meet the standards applicable to public schools. People with disabilities studying in public schools can also attend schools.

The minister released the number of taluks with less than one plus seats. A total of 21 taluks are short of seats. The total number of batches to be provided in 21 taluks is 72. The minister said one science batch, 61 humanities batch and 10 commerce batch would be allowed.

Meanwhile, the minister released the number of teachers and non-teachers who have not been vaccinated in the state. The number of teachers and non-teachers who have not been vaccinated is 1707. Of these, 1495 are teachers and 212 are non-teachers. In LP / UP / High School, 1066 teachers and 189 non-teachers were not vaccinated. In the higher secondary section, 200 teachers and 23 non-teachers need to be vaccinated. 229 teachers in the Vocational Higher Secondary section have not been vaccinated.

The RTPCR mandated weekly inspections for teachers, staff and other office workers who did not receive the Covid vaccine. Those who have not been vaccinated due to illness or allergies should produce a doctor’s certificate.
