The Gujarat government has formed a five -member committee to finalize the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) law. This committee will be chaired by former Supreme Court Judge Ranjana Desai. Announcing this on Tuesday, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that this step has been taken as per the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which aims to give equal rights to all citizens.
The Gujarat government has directed this committee to submit the report within 45 days. Based on the report, the government will take further action on the UCC.
At the press conference, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said, “On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution, Prime Minister Modi has pledged to implement the Uniform Civil Code in the country. The BJP has successfully implemented schemes like Article 370 removal, One Nation-One Election, Triple Divorce. In this episode, this step has been taken to implement UCC in Gujarat as well. ”
The Gujarat government has described the UCC law implemented in Uttarakhand as an ideal model. The Chief Minister said that the committee will discuss with the gurus of all religions and prepare a report, so that the interests of all sections of the society can be protected. He assured that the customs of tribal society will be kept safe.
Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi also described this decision as historic and said that the Gujarat government is doing intensive research on UCC and will soon take concrete steps on it.

The committee will present its report to the state government in the coming 45 days. ”
