UN sent first batch of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has begun delivering humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, where living conditions are deteriorating as winter approaches.

UNHCR Press Secretary Shabiya Mantoux commented on the latest situation in Afghanistan at an online press conference at the UN office in Geneva.

Mantou said 33 tons of winter preparation equipment will be delivered to Afghan civilians who have been forced to flee their homes due to internal conflicts.

According to her, a UNHCR plane with 33 tons of humanitarian aid intended to support the Afghan population has already departed for Kabul.

The plane, which took off on the morning of November 2 from Sharik Airport in the UAE, will land in Kabul at 17.30 Turkish time.

The next consignments of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people will be sent on November 4 and 7, Mantou added.
