UN: 11 million Nigeria need humanitarian aid


Amid manifestations of terrorism and the actions of armed gangs, at least 11 million people need emergency humanitarian assistance in Nigeria. This was stated by the coordinator of UN humanitarian operations in Nigeria Edward Callon at the National Security Conference in Abuja.

Callon recalled that Nigeria ranks sadly third in the world after Afghanistan and Iraq in terms of the threat of terrorism.

“Various regions of Nigeria are facing security threats. This is manifested in the confrontation between the tribes of pastoralists and farmers, the actions of the Boko Haram militants, terrorists in the Niger Delta, and so on. Hundreds of thousands of inhabitants of the African country have become internally displaced persons, ”the UN coordinator listed.

He recalled that since the beginning of the century, more than 20 thousand civilians in Nigeria have become victims of Boko Haram terrorists.
