Page The Kyiv IndependentOn January 5, citing information from the General Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, the explosion occurred in the town of Shuya in Ivanovo province of Russia, seriously injuring a Russian commander, Captain Konstantin Nagayko of the artillery unit under the Arrow Brigade. fire number 112, Western Military District (Russia).
“At the time (of the explosion), this person was in the unit and is currently dying. Officer Nagayko suffered multiple shrapnel injuries to most organs, including the brain, and had to undergo brain surgery.” , HUR announced on Facebook.
According to HUR, Nagayko’s unit was responsible for the missile attack on a cafe in the village of Hroza (Kharkiv province, Ukraine) on October 5, 2023, killing 59 people and injuring 5 others. The Ukrainian side suspects that the Russian side likely used Iskander ballistic missiles at that time.
Ukrinform reported that Captain Nahayko was born on November 6, 1995 in Svobodny in the Amur region of Russia. The officer graduated from St. Petersburg and Mikhailovsk Military Artillery Academy.
HUR accused Captain Nahayko of directly participating in the military campaign in Ukraine and commanding Iskander ballistic missile attacks against military targets and civilians in Sumy and Kharkiv provinces. However, Russia has long insisted that it does not attack civilian targets when deploying special operations in Ukraine.
The Russian side also did not comment on information related to the explosion, which according to HUR said it seriously injured Captain Nagayko.
If the above attack is confirmed by Russia, this is the latest in a series of attacks carried out by Ukraine against key players in President Vladimir Putin’s special campaign in Ukraine.
