The Ukrainian authorities have evacuated 100 people from Afghanistan.
“With the coordination of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Office of the Head of State, an airplane arrived at Boryspil International Airport on Thursday evening, which evacuated about 100 citizens of Ukraine and other countries from Afghanistan,” the Office of the President said.
In particular, 30 Ukrainian citizens, nine people with a residence permit in Ukraine, 18 citizens of the Vatican, two citizens of Canada, and their family members arrived in Kiev.
International negotiations on the evacuation operation continued for several days.
During this time, Ukrainian diplomats, representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Office of the President of Ukraine agreed on the possibility of exporting Ukrainian citizens and their relatives.
Representatives of Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar and Afghanistan took an active part in the negotiations. On the morning of September 23, negotiations ended in success and a civilian plane took off from the airport in Kabul.
