The Bayraktar AKINCI TİHA attack drone, developed by the Turkish company Baykar entirely with domestic resources, will function with software containing a message written by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for future generations.
President Erdogan’s special message was added to the embedded software of the drone’s computer control system ahead of the Bayraktar Akıncı TİHA flight test on December 6, 2019, according to a report by the Turkish Presidential Affairs Office.
The firmware also includes a “hexadecimal” version of the text.

The unmanned aerial vehicles of the BAYRAKTAR series, developed by Baykar as part of a project led by the Defense Industry Directorate, are one of the most successful achievements in this direction. I truly believe that our youth will bring the visions of 2053 and 2071 to life on the basis of the powerful infrastructure we have built in all areas, from democracy to economics and above all in technology. I congratulate everyone who contributed to this work, which has reached a new level with the Akıncı TİHA project, ”the message of the Turkish leader says.
The unmanned aerial vehicle, developed by Baykar, has an original design, and all components and data system are manufactured in Turkey. Developers have implemented up to one hundred computer systems in AKINCI. The takeoff weight of the UAV is 6 tons. Payload – 1.5 tons.
Thanks to the domestic radar AESA Bayraktar AKINCI TİHA can perform tasks with high situational awareness. It is also capable of performing some of the F-16 missions.
The development of the drone began in 2017 and the first test flight took place on December 6, 2019. The transfer of the first batch of Bayraktar AKINCI TİHA to the Armed Forces was completed on Sunday, August 29, 2021.
Equipped with weather radar and multipurpose airborne radar, the drone will become a leader in its class.
