Turkish policeman killed in terrorist attack in northern Syria

The Turkish Interior Ministry announced the death of a member of the Turkish special forces following a terrorist attack by PKK / PYD fighters in the area of ​​Operation “Euphrates Shield” in the north from Syria.

The ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the attack was carried out with a guided missile from the Tel Rifaat area, controlled by the “PKK / PYD” (in the Syrian province of Aleppo), and targeted a Turkish armored vehicle in the area of ​​Operation Euphrates Shield between the towns of Marea and Azaz.

The attack resulted in the death of a member of the special forces and injured three others, one of whom is in serious condition, the ministry statement said.

The Turkish army has succeeded, thanks to Operation Euphrates Shield, launched on August 24, 2016, to rid 2,055 square kilometers of land in northern Syria of the presence of terrorist elements.
