Turkish Paralympians win record medals at Tokyo 2020


The Paralympic Games – 2020 in Tokyo became the most successful for Turkey in the history of the country’s participation in this sporting event.

Turkish athletes have achieved great success in the 16th Paralympics.

Turkey was represented at the Tokyo Paralympics for the 7th time, 87 athletes in 13 disciplines competed for the country.

For the first time, Turkish athletes took part in the Paralympics in 1992, when the Games were held in Barcelona.

The Turkish Paralympians set the previous record for the number of medals at competitions in London in 2012.

According to the results of the Games in Great Britain, Turkey’s Paralympic piggy bank was replenished with ten medals: 1 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze.

In Tokyo, the Turkish Paralympians have achieved historic success, having won 15 medals – 2 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze.

Thus, there are 38 medals in Turkey’s Paralympic treasury – 8 gold, 10 silver and 20 bronze medals:
