A Turkish soldier died in an explosive device explosion in the Operation Lightning Claw area in northern Iraq.
This is what emerges from a statement made by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense on Monday.
A homemade device exploded in the area of Operation Flashclaw in northern Iraq. A Turkish soldier died and another was injured in the explosion.
The ministry extended its condolences to the family of the dead soldier, as well as to the Turkish people, also wishing a speedy recovery to the injured soldier.
Turkish forces launched operations Lightningclaw and Thunderclaw in northern Iraq on April 24, 2021, against elements of the separatist terrorist organization PKK.
The terrorist organization PKK, which has waged a terrorist campaign against Turkey for more than thirty years, is responsible for the deaths of around 40,000 people, including a large number of women, children and infants. The PKK is classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
