Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar arrived on Saturday with an inspection in the eastern province of Van, bordering Iran.
The head of the defense department is accompanied by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Yashar Guler and the commander of the ground forces Musa Avsever.
At the Ferit Melen airport in Van, the minister was met by the governor of the province Mehmet Emin Bilmez, the commander of the 2nd army, General Metin Gürak, and others.
Hulusi Akar flew over part of the state border line by helicopter, and then landed in the area of the Kodzhachukur-tepe observation post, located at an altitude of 2618 m above sea level. The Turkish servicemen informed the head of the department about the current situation, assuring that they would not allow violators, whether terrorists or illegal migrants, to enter the country.
The Minister also visited the area of the Hangedik military base.
The inspection of military units in the border zone continues.
