In one of the festival’s menus, starters were served from Lille, France, and Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, while dessert was served from the Brussels region.
The main course in the menu consisted of mutancana and curtain pilaf from the Ottoman cuisine prepared by the Turkish Embassy in Brussels.
The meals prepared by the Brussels Embassy representing Turkey were appreciated by more than 100 participants.
Turkey’s Ambassador to Brussels Dr. Hasan Ulusoy, in his speech at the dinner, said that mutancanan, a historical dish prepared by the embassy cook, was known as the favorite dish of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, who opened the doors of Istanbul to the Turks.
Expressing that mutancana, a lamb stew prepared with various dried fruits, is one of the historical and rarest examples of traditional Turkish cuisine, which includes many different refined flavors, Ulusoy said that the guests once again witnessed the richness of Turkish cuisine.
Ministers from the Brussels Capital Region administration, officials from the Belgian Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local Turkish politicians and ambassadors of some countries also attended the dinner.
