Turkey, which won 11 medals in the ongoing Paralympic Games in Tokyo, has set a national record. At the moment, Turkey has one gold, two silver and 8 bronze medals in the Tokyo Games.
At the 2012 London Paralympics, Turkey won 10 medals – one gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze.
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Turkey also broke its own record with 13 medals.
On the sixth day of the 2020 Paralympics, Turkish athletes won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Abdullah Ozturk won a gold medal in table tennis (singles, men, class 4), and Sevilay Ozturk (17 years old) won a bronze medal in the women’s 50m backstroke tournament. This is the first Paralympic medal in the history of Turkey in swimming competition.
In addition, in the archery competition, Nihat Turkmenoglu brought Turkey a silver medal, and Bahattin Hekimoglu – a bronze medal.
Thus, the number of medals won by Turkish athletes at the Paralympic Games in the entire history of participating in a sporting event has increased to 34.
At the moment, Turkey has 7 gold, 8 silver and 19 bronze medals in the piggy bank.
